Medéleon Wins Silver at Two International Competitions in 2026

Blog

Medéleon has been recognized with Silver Awards at two international olive oil competitions in 2026: the Olympia Health & Nutrition Awards, organized by the World Olive Center for Health, and the London International Olive Oil Competition (LIOOC 2026) in the Health Claim category. Both awards were received in the first year of the brand’s commercial existence.

What Did Medéleon Win at LIOOC 2026?

Medéleon received a Silver Award in the Health Claim category at the London International Olive Oil Competition 2026, recognized for its single-origin Koroneiki extra virgin olive oil from Katouna, Greece.

The LIOOC Health Claim category evaluates olive oil on two criteria: chemical analysis measuring the concentration of health-protective compounds, including oleocanthal, oleacein, oleuropein, and aglycon, using NMR spectroscopy, and organoleptic evaluation of flavor on a 0–100 scale.

Medéleon’s verified results: 821 mg/kg total polyphenols, 232 mg/kg oleocanthal, 139 mg/kg oleacin, fruitiness 4.7, bitterness 4.4, pungency 4.4, zero sensory defects.

What Did Medéleon Win at the Olympia Health & Nutrition Awards 2026?

The Olympia Health & Nutrition Awards are organized by the World Olive Center for Health, the same institution that conducted Medéleon’s independent polyphenol analysis, and evaluate oils exclusively on scientifically verified phenolic content.

EVOOs with enough phenols to qualify for the EU Health Claim receive Bronze awards, while Silver and Gold awards go to high-phenolic EVOOs that exceed the health claim requirements by specified amounts.

Medéleon received a Silver Award, reflecting that its polyphenol concentration substantially exceeds the EU threshold. A single 20g serving delivers 16.43 mg of hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol derivatives, more than three times the 5 mg minimum required under EU Regulation 432/2012.

Why Both Awards Matter

These are not taste awards. Both competitions evaluate olive oil on independently verified scientific criteria, polyphenol concentration, sensory integrity, and EU Health Claim compliance. Winning Silver in both in the same year, and in the brand’s commercial debut, confirms that Medéleon’s quality is externally validated, not self-reported.
